Crush Club and Robyn

Crush Club and Robyn: TC Milan of L.A. electro disco house duo Crush Club told us about his Robyn experience.TC Milan: The best gig I’ve ever experienced was Robyn’s Honey tour at Madison Square Garden. Ordinarily, artists pull out all the stops for a headline show at MSG, but Robyn kept it pretty simple with minimal set design, a small band, and one featured dancer. I appreciated the simplicity; it was all about her performance with no tricks necessary. She sang songs from Honey but also gave us past hits she knew we needed, like a good mother.Robyn is an icon to me for paving her own way to the career she wanted, always staying true to her authentic pop / dance music style, and remaining available and dedicated to her devoted fans. I used to study videos of her performances so I could emulate the way she connects to audiences while playing. It wasn’t something I could actually learn but hoped nonetheless I’d acquire some of her magic through osmosis. It was thrilling to see her pl...

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Sharks can point to a handful of areas that need improvement as they carry a double-digit long losing streak – their second of the season — into Saturday’s game with the Toronto Maple Leafs.Special teams must be at or near the top of that list. The Sharks played the Western Conference-leading Winnipeg Jets even for two-plus periods Thursday before they allowed a power play goal to Gabriel Vilardi early in the third period. That proved to be the difference as the Sharks lost 2-1 to the Jets before an announced crowd of 10,521 at SAP Center. The Sharks are now 23 of 31 on the penalty kill on a 10-game losing streak on which they haven’t picked up a single point. KAPALUA, Hawaii (AP) — Not to be forgotten is the putt heard ’round the Great White North. Nick Taylor made a 72-foot eagle on the fourth playoff hole to win the RBC Canadian Open, the first Canadian to win his national open in 68 years.Overlooked in the pandemonium of that moment last June was the smile of Tommy Fleetwood.“He was so gracious,” Taylor said. The putt was one of the most memorable shots of the year. What got equal attention, at least in the immediate aftermath, was Adam Hadwin getting tackled by a security guard as he rushed onto the 18th green at Oakdale to celebrate with his Canadian friend. But there was Fleetwood, who had every reason to be crushed at a fifth runner-up finish, showing genuine happiness for Taylor.“It was cool for them. It was cool for the country, wasn’t it?” Fleetwood said this week at The Sentry, his first trip to Kapalua for the season opener.“I don’t like losing. And I don’t win close to what I’d like, but that goes...
