Exciting news from chef Yia Vang: Vinai, the much-anticipated restaurant celebrating his family’s Hmong heritage, has found a permanent home and is set to open next spring.Vinai will be in the Northeast Minneapolis spot currently occupied by Dangerous Man Brewing Co. The brewery, an early player in the Twin Cities craft beer scene, is closing its taproom in October after a decade, though they’ll continue to produce beer for commercial sale.Vang announced plans for Vinai in 2020, just before COVID-19 broke out.As he’s worked through roadblocks, Vang has pressed on: Union Hmong Kitchen went from pop-ups to two locations in Minneapolis, and his State Fair stand has been a hit two years running. PATTERSON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A man has been arrested in the town of Patterson following a homicide investigation, according to state police. On September 10, troopers responded to a residence on River Road in Patterson for the report of a fatal domestic incident. Police stated that Cherry III stands accused of bludgeoning his father, James Cherry Jr., to death. GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - As South Glenns Falls High School returns for another school year, so does its unique choral teacher. Mrs. Betsy Stambach-Fuller created the a capella group Vocal Point, and her students have reached new heights this year. On August 1, the high school singers jammed out on stage at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center as the opening act for the rock band "Foreigner."The soloist, senior Arabella Tracy-Bonner. belted out the lyrics, "Oh, oh, Sweet child of mine." The a capella choir created a background music bed with just their voices. The Saratoga responded with cheers and a loud "sing it, girl!" after the first verse. "It was really, really exciting. But at the same time, it was really nerve-wracking," Tracy-Bonner said. "But once I got on the stage, it was like, everything went away. And I was just like, I was the only person there." EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Monday, the East Greenbush Central School District initiated a district-wide secured lockout. According to Superintendent Jeffrey Simons, he was notified by Goff Middle School staff of an unspecified threat made via a voicemail message left on Sunday night. Each of the elementary schools was able to start their instructional day. School days continued as normal, but there were no outdoor activities and limited visitor access.No threats were made to other school districts. A church was vandalized in Van Nuys early Monday and an investigation is underway to find the person or people responsible.The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 14600 block of Sherman Way but was reported hours later, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.Windows of the Calvary Chapel were broken and the place was ransacked, though it is unclear if anything was taken during the incident.Inside one of the ransacked rooms, which appeared to be a classroom, items including bibles were thrown on the floor and supplies were overturned.A Van Nuys church was vandalized and ransacked on Sept. 11, 2023.
